ABOUT THE GOJU-KAI LOGO

The clenched fist design known as the Karate school insignia of the Goju style as is printed here on the top was designed by the late Gogen Yamaguchi in 1932, founder of Goju-Kai Karate-Do. The design is legal Service Mark registered with the United States Patent Office on March 9, 1971. Application for the Service Mark was initially undersigned by Gogen Yamaguchi and was certified by the office as registration No. 909827.

The Service Mark was later assigned to Norimi Gosei Yamaguchi, the first son of Gogen Yamaguchi who had been presiding over Goju-Kai Karate-Do, U.S.A., National Headquarters since 1964. The assignment of the registration also was recorded in the U.S. Patent Office at Reel 0282. Frames 033-035 on March 25, 1976.

Renewal of the registration was approved by the Commissioner of Patent and Trademarks on November 28, 1990. This verifies that Norimi Gosei Yamaguchi owns the exclusive legal rights to use the insignia for instruction in the art of Karate and promotion of Karate tournaments, in class 107(INT.CL.41)

The mark GOJU-KAI, Reg. No. 2,121,081 and „_‰ï (in kanji), Reg. No. 2,121,080 are also legal Sevice Mark registered with the United States Patent Office by Norimi Gosei Yamaguchi.

To duplicate these Service Marks by way of printing, embroidering and founding or to display it in public without authorization may constitute service mark infringements and may be subject to litigation.

In Japan, Norimi Gosei Yamaguchi has inherited from Gogen Yamaguchi exclusive legal rights to control the use of the insignia with the Japan Trademark Bureau (“ú–{‘ “Á‹–’¡). His legal rights in Japan includes the following Trademark Registration:
