There are also four groups of exercises in "IDO."  Kihon Ido is an independent activity, but both "Kata Ido" and Nekoashi Ido" are introductory programs for Kata and Kumite activity.

KIHON IDO

Preparation for the kata Takyoku movements  

In Kata Ido, there are theree types of turns and three kinds of levels are implemented.

TURNS

  1. One quarter turn  -   90 degree angle left face turn

  2. Two quarters turn - 180 degree angle pivoting

  3. Three quarters turn - 270 degree angle right face turn

LEVELS

  1. Jodan Ido -    Upper level

  2. Chudan Ido -  Middle level

  3. Gedan Ido -  Lower level
